A love song to Alcoholics Anonymous

I used to wake each morning
With a pain in my head
I needed four damn percodan
To get me outta’ bed
Then I’d stumble to the kitchen
And pour myself a drink
Then snort a line or two to clear
My head and think

I’d down a pot of coffee and
Smoke a chunk of hash
Then accuse the poolboy of messin’
With my stash
I’d stagger to the poolside
For my daily cry
And sink to the bottom n wish that
I could die!

One day I had a revelation
Sittin' at the bottom of that pool
A friend or an angel pulled me out
I realized that I’d been such a fool!

And it’s one and two and three and four
I found what I’ve been searching for
Five n’ six seven eight
With joy I will anticipate
Nine ten and eleven
Have bought me a little piece of heaven
There’s no if or and or maybe
When I’m twelve steppin’ out with my baby!

Now I’ve thrown out the vodka,
The bong and my syringe
Razor blades and mirrors
Tend to make me cringe
I start each day with wheat grass
Mixed with brewers yeast
Macrobiotics have helped to tame the beast

One day I had a revelaiton sittin' at the bottom of that pool
I'm still with the angel who pulled me out
I realized I'd been such a fool! (Chorus)
